Earth Day Stream Clean Up
As part of JSRCC’s Earth Day 2013 celebration a group of 16 enthusiastic volunteers composed of students, staff and faculty members spent four hours on Saturday, April 20 in hip-boots sloshing through the North Run stream removing trash and liter from the stream and surrounding terrain. >>read full story
Annual Essay Contest Winners Announced
Crystal MickensFour winners in the 2013 J. Sargeant Reynolds Annual Essay Contest were announced at a Reading Reception on Tuesday, April 23rd in the Gallery in Georgiadis Hall on the Parham Road Campus. The Annual Essay Contest was open to all currently enrolled JSR students and Dual Enrollment students in upper-level courses who attend class on campus. Available topics included What Reynolds has Meant to Me, Why I Decided to Come to Reynolds, What I Expect from My Education at Reynolds, and The Best and Worst of My Reynolds Experience. A total of 55 essays were submitted for consideration. A panel of three judges reviewed the submissions and selected the winners. >> read full story

Community Room unveiled at Goochland Campus Garden Party
Goochland Campus Community Room
J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College continues to fulfill its commitment to be a good neighbor with the recent opening of the Goochland Campus community room.
Decorated by the Goochland Historical Society, the community room is a 2,145-square foot multifunction room available to host public gatherings and corporate meetings. >>read more

The Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia Honored with 2013 Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in Philanthropy
(Richmond, Va.) – The Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia (TCF) has earned the 2013 Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in Philanthropy. The organization was nominated for the award by J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College (JSRCC). The award was given at a luncheon ceremony at the Country Club of Virginia on Tuesday, April 16, 2013.

Reynolds announces student art show
RICHMOND, Va. (April 12, 2013) – At J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, each spring the walls of the Gallery in Georgiadis Hall on the Parham Road Campus become an art gallery for the Student Art Show, displaying many creative works in all shapes and sizes. This year 73 individual works of art will be on display until April 17. The artwork includes paintings, drawings, and photographs.

J. Sargeant Reynolds, Jr. to deliver address at Reynolds 40th Commencement
RICHMOND, Va. (April 15, 2013) – J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College (JSRCC) will hold its 40th Commencement on Sunday, May 12, at 2 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena in the Virginia Commonwealth University Stuart C. Siegel Center, located at 1200 West Broad Street in Richmond.

J. Sargeant “Sarge” Reynolds, Jr., son of the late Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth for whom the college was named, will deliver the commencement speech on the occasion of the college’s 40th anniversary.
