“SCIENCE NIGHT AT COLLEGE ” SCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 9 RICHMOND, Va (November 1, 2005) - JSRCC will host the Second Annual Science Night at the College on Wednesday, November 9. The free event will include discussions on three science topics and will be held on the Parham Road Campus in Building B – Room 101 (The Gallery) from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The evening will open with a “Teaching Science with Toys” presentation by JSRCC Professor of Chemistry Dr. Ann Sullivan, followed by JSRCC Associate Professor of Geology David H. Walz’s presentation “Learning the Lessons of Planet Earth.” The evening will close with JSRCC Associate Professor of Physics Dr. John Ochab discussing the topic “The Light Fantastic.” “Dr. Sullivan’s presentation on “Teaching Science with Toys” is going to be a fabulous opportunity for parents and teachers to come hear how to make science more enjoyable for their children,” noted Roland Moore, JSRCC Dean of Mathematics & Science. “Plus, the other two presentations will be really interesting sessions for anyone who just enjoys science or just wants to hear what is new in the field.” Each topic will cover about 20 minutes, followed by a question and answer session.
