JSR LEAD is the Reynolds student leadership development program. Launched in 2008, the program enrolls 20 students in a two-semester experience where students develop the tools needed to work as effective leaders. In the fall semester, JSR LEAD students participate in a program retreat, work on team building skills, attend the VCCS Student Leadership Conference, learn about corporate etiquette, enhance public speaking skills and participate in community service. In the spring semester, JSR LEAD students take SDV 109 which is a one-credit leadership development class. This class, which meets for eight weeks, includes such topics as leadership styles and theories, ethical decision making, communication, managing change, wellness and balance, gender and diversity in leadership, and conflict management. Students complete additional community service and have a final retreat to conclude their experience in JSR LEAD. JSR LEAD provides an opportunity for students to enhance or develop leadership skills while making lifelong friendships.

Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society for two-year colleges. The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.
There are two Phi Theta Kappa chapters at Reynolds. The Alpha Iota Beta chapter represents members enrolled in programs at the Parham Road Campus, and the Alpha Gamma Omicron chapter represents members enrolled in programs at the Goochland and Downtown campuses. Although there are two chapters at Reynolds, the chapters participate in activities and hold meetings together.
Students who have completed 12 transferable credit hours and have a 3.3 cumulative GPA at Reynolds are invited to join PTK every fall and spring semester. Invitations are sent out by mail and email in September and February. If the student meets these qualifications, he/she will receive an invitation.
Partial Scholarships for Membership Fee
Phi Theta Kappa never wants finances to get in the way of you accessing the membership benefits Phi Theta Kappa has to offer. We are excited to be able to once again offer Phi Theta Kappa Membership Assistance Scholarships! These are partial scholarships that cover $60 of the $90 membership fee. The scholarship recipient is expected to cover the remaining $30. In order to qualify, write a short 200 word essay on what Phi Theta Kappa membership would mean to you. Essays are due by Sunday, February 11, 2018. Submit them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Spring 2018 Induction Ceremony will be held on February 24, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the Lipman Auditorium, Massey Library Technology Center at the Parham Campus.

Phi Theta Kappa sponsors the IMPACT program for 1st semester students. IMPACT stands for Individuals Making Positive Accomplishments and Challenging Themselves. The program is designed to connect you with resources and opportunities at the college that help 1st semester students be successful. Students who participate are eligible to win one of two $250 scholarships at the end of the semester. Have more questions about IMPACT? Student Ambassadors and Peer Academic Leaders
Student Ambassadors serve the Reynolds community in a number of ways. The primary duty of Student Ambassadors is serving our new students at all summer SOAR (Student Orientation and Registration) sessions at the Downtown, Parham Road, and Goochland campuses, where they help students create a fall schedule, conduct campus tours, and assist faculty and staff with the overall program. In the fall and spring semesters, Ambassadors aid current students by assisting with the information and welcome tables at the beginning of each semester, host campus-wide events at the direction of the President's Office, and help the Office of Outreach & Recruitment with campus tours for prospective students. Each Ambassador serves for three semesters: summer, fall and spring. For their time and work, Ambassadors receive an hourly wage.
The application process begins early in the spring semester and consists of a written application and an interview.
Meet the 2017-18 Student Senators
Student Senate members advocate on behalf of the student body for issues and topics of interest to students at the college. The Student Senate is composed of a maximum of 15 students representing the Parham Road, Downtown and Goochland campuses.
Senate members attend monthly meetings during the academic year, represent the College at various functions (e.g. College Board meetings, legislative sessions, etc.), obtain the opinions of Reynolds students on matters related to Reynolds, and complete one signature program each year.
Any current curricular student enrolled in at least six credit hours at Reynolds is eligible to apply. The application process begins early in the fall semester and consists of a written application and an interview. Members begin their term in late September and conclude on April 30.
