Those of you that use America Online
as your Internet provider need to follow these directions.
The Problem:
It appears that AOL's proxy server does not instantly drop the VCCS
Blackboard, E-mail or My JSRCC sites once a student logs off. This means
that AOL/VCCS users may encounter a variety of error messages when they
try to connect. The AOL proxy server causes a number of problems in
using various databases including the VCCS library catalog.
Please note that AOL
is not compatible with My JSRCC, the email program,
Blackboard or Student Information System. You will need to use either
Internet Explorer or Netscape to access these programs.
The Solution:
Our instructions to AOL users is to do the following.
1. Connect to AOL in the normal way.
2. Minimize the browser window you used for the connection.
3. Launch a new browser window by clicking your Internet Explorer or
Netscape browser icon and use this window to connect to VCCS Internet
services.
4. Use the AOL session window to logoff the Internet when you are done.
