When can I make an appointment or call?

No appointment is necessary. Contact can be made in person during normal clinic operational hours. Located in room 564 on the Downtown campus, the clinic is open in the Fall and Spring semester, hours may vary dependent upon student & faculty availability. Typically we are open Mon & Wed 11:30-2pm. No services are available during the summer.

The clinic's telephone number is 804-523-5417 and we have a voice mail system on that line for when the clinic is closed however due to a lack of full time staffing, the voice mail messages are checked infrequently during the times the clinic is closed. Your call is important to us but please allow time for someone to respond to your message.

Do you perform eye exams?

Sorry, we do not perform diagnostic exams at the clinic. You will need to be examined by and your prescription written by a doctor (O.D. or M.D.) before you make an appointment with the clinic. We provide and fit your lenses according to the prescription the doctor gives you.

How do I pay for services?

Payment for services is handled through the school business office. Cash, checks and major credit cards are accepted. If you have insurance that will reimburse you for your eyewear expenses, we will be happy to fill out the claim form for you but we do not accept insurance payments or credits.

Who operates the clinic and who gets the money?

The Eyeglass Clinic is under the School of Health Sciences umbrella and is a non-profit educational clinic. The pricing on frames and lenses is just over the clinic's cost and all income is returned to the clinic for reinvestment in new frames, equipment and clinic upkeep.
