Before You Register For Classes:
Before You Begin Classes:
If you are a first-time distance learning student or a new student curious about online learning, complete the interactive Orientation to Learning Online — CDL 001. Please complete the registration form to enroll. You will need to provide your name, student ID number (also called an empl), and your date of birth.
Orientation to Learning Online is a two-week Blackboard experience; during the two weeks, you will learn all the skills you will need to be successful in an online class and gain important information about success resources available to you at JSRCC. An instructor will be available to assist you and give you feedback during your two week orientation. We expect Orientation to Learning Online to take you between two and six hours to complete depending on how quickly you move through the information. Students who complete Orientation to Learning Online will be entered in a drawing to win prizes. This is a great way to prepare for online learning or to decide if online learning is right for you!
After you sign up for an orientation session, you will receive a confirmation email. You will be able to access your Blackboard Orientation three business days before your session begins. To access your orientation experience, log into MyJSR and access Blackboard. Look for a class titled “CDL 001." Note: Only students who are registered for a fall class or have completed a VCCS class in the last 12 months have access to Blackboard.
If you have any problems registering for Orientation to Learning Online or have any questions, contact the Center for Distance Learning at distance-ed@reynolds.edu or 804-523-5612 or 1-800-711-1628 (Virginia only).
If necessary, you may use the session lookup form to review or change the session you have registered for.
After you register for a Distance Learning class, check the section notes to see if there are required on-campus meetings for your classes in the current college schedule. There you will find meeting date, time and place. If you cannot make the face-to-face, required meeting, you will need to contact your instructor directly. Emails and phone numbers for instructors can be found at: College Contact Information.
