Applying for Summer 2006 Financial Aid

To download a copy of the Summer 2006 application, please read the steps below.  The application is in step 2.

If you are planning to take classes in the Summer 2006 semester, you must follow the steps below by the dates listed.   At this time, the only aid we expect to award are Federal Pell Grants, Work-Study, and Stafford Loans.   If you were previously awarded a Commonwealth, CSAP, SEOG, or PTAP, those funds were only for the Fall 2004 and Spring 2005 semesters and do not carry forward into Summer.  For the best service, please complete the steps on or before the "Recommended" dates below.

StepRecommended Completion DateFinal Deadline
1.  Complete the 2005-06 FAFSA only if you have not previously had FAFSA results sent to JSRCC. FAFSA on the Web takes 3 - 5 days to reach the college. Complete the online FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov on or before the deadline.   Transfer students must have the JSRCC school code added to an existing FAFSA by this date. Paper FAFSA takes 3 - 5 weeks. All missing information must be on file in the Central Financial Aid Office by May 2. This includes verification materials and any other item required to determine your eligibility.April 15, 2006June 16, 2006*
2.  Print, complete, sign & submit the Reynolds 2006 Summer Aid Application.   Allow 3 weeks for processing.   This application will be available after March 31, 2006.  Click here to download and print a copy of the application.  We cannot accept email copies of this form.April 15, 2006June 16, 2006*

3. For students who want to borrow a Federal Stafford Loan, complete steps 1 & 2 above and:
NEW BORROWERS: Complete and Submit a Master Promissory Note and Loan Request form. Click here for more details.
CONTINUING 2005-06 BORROWERS: Complete and submit just a Loan Request Form.

WARNING -  Any amount you borrow in Summer, will REDUCE the amount of your Fall/Spring loans.   Please read your Master Promissory Note for details about the annual award limits.

4.  Register for ClassesApril 10 - May 19*, 2006May 26, 2006

*Because of the complexity in the processing of Summer aid, you must register for all Summer classes by May 19 so that we can process your aid in a timely manner.  If you register after this point your financial aid payments will be delayed by up to 30 days.

You can download, print and complete your Summer 2006 Financial Aid Application by clicking here (link not available yet.)

2nd 5 Week session  June 29 - August 2
If you register for a 2nd 5 week class AFTER May 19,  you must contact a financial aid representative to have your award(s) adjusted.

If all of your classes are in the second five weeks, your financial aid will be disbursed after July 20, 2006.

Other important factors that could affect Summer Aid:

Satisfactory Academic Progress:   Students must meet the standards of the college SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) policy.   For more information, please read the SAP policy page at this link.   For currently enrolled students, we will re-evaluate your SAP at the end of Spring 2006 once grades are available. Students not meeting the standards become ineligible for aid as of Summer and beyond until compliance with SAP standards are re-established.

5 Week and 10 Week Sessions:  This summer the college will offer courses in one 10-week session, and two 5-week sessions.  If your enrollment is divided between two sessions, you must still "earn" your financial aid by attending courses in all your sessions.  If financial aid is disbursed to you and later you drop or never attend a late starting class, you will owe back some (or all) of the financial aid disbursed to you.

Developmental Hour maximum:  Only the first 30 hours of developmental credits in your enrollment may be considered for financial aid purposes. You can take more than 30 hours, but they cannot be used to determine your enrollment status.

Enrollment Status:  The enrollment status for Summer is the same as the standard 16 week semester.   You aid will be based on your enrollment and the following rules:

Hours (Credit and/or Developmental)Enrollment Status
1 - 5Less than Half Time
6 - 8Half Time
9 - 11Three-Quarter Time
12 -Full Time
