Frequently Asked Questions About the Pave Program

1) What is P.A.V.E.?
The Program for Adults in Vocational Education

2) How can I enroll in the Program?
Persons wishing to apply for admission to the P.A.V.E. Program must complete the P.A.V.E. application process which includes filling out an Application Packet, which can be requested by phone or visit to our office.

3) Can I use Financial Aid?
Yes the P.A.V.E. Program is approved for students eligible to receive Financial Aid.

4) What programs are available?
There are four (4) Programs for students to choose from: Food Service Assistant, Child Care Assistant, Clerical Assistant, and Health Care Companion.

5) How long does it take to complete the program?
Our Certificate Program is two (2) years or four (4) semesters. We only accept new students into the program at the start of the Fall Semester.

6) Where is your program located?
Are you on the Parham Road Campus? The P.A.V.E. Program is only located on the Downtown Campus, at this time we have no plans to expand to other locations.

7) When should I apply?
We begin accepting applications in November for the next fall’s enrollment. The best time to submit an application packet is December through February. Applications are accepted up to May 15th at that time a committee reviews the applicants and make recommendations. Letters are then sent notifying all candidates of the results.

8) Is there a limit to the number of students accepted into the program?
YES each program can only accept ten (10) new students.
The student : teacher ratio is set at 10 : 1.

9) Can I use the online application for JSRCC?
We prefer students use the paper application for the college included in our Packet. If you do use the online application be sure to indicate under Program the correct code; Child Care 007, Clerical 008, Food Service 005, and Health Care 048.
