  • Richmond Times Dispatch (1861-1865)

    The Richmond Daily Dispatch is the result of a National Leadership Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and collaboration between the University of Richmond, Tufts University's Perseus Project, and the Virginia Center for Digital History. There are currently 1384 issues of the paper available online, ranging in date from November 1860 through December 1865. Links in the navigation bar above provide access to a brief Civil War period history and chronology by Civil War historian and University of Richmond faculty member Dr. Robert Kenzer, as well as more detailed background and technical information about the project.

    A full-text, searchable version of this classic.  Literature is broadly defined in the work  including a large collection of literary genres and lengthy literary biographies of novelists, poets, dramatists, etc.

  • Internet History Sourcebooks Project

  • Making of America
    Making of America (MOA) is a digital library of primary sources in American social history from the antebellum period through reconstruction.  Major subject areas are education, psychology, American history, sociology, religion, and science and technology. Contains approximately 1,600 books and 50,000 journal articles with 19th century imprints. This project from the University of Michigan and Cornell University represents a major collaborative endeavor in preservation and electronic access to historical texts.
