1. From the Library’s home page, click on Title List under Find Information – Research Databases.
2. Scroll down to find the database link you are interested in adding to your Bb course. You can also browse databases by reviewing the Popular, Description, and Subject Lists. 3. Right-click on the database link. When a menu appears, left-click on Properties.
4. When the Properties window appears - highlight, copy (<Ctrl>+C), and paste (<Ctrl>+V) the URL address in your Bb course.
1. When using a computer off-campus, if you click on any JSRCC Library database links you will get a VCCS - Virginia Community College System login screen first. Login with the same username and password you use for accessing any services through My JSRCC (Blackboard, SIS, E-mail). After you login, you will get the database search screen.

For more information on Off-Campus Access, go to: Proxy Server and URL Prefix The library’s licensed databases available through either consortium - VIVA (The Virtual Library of Virginia and VCCS (Virginia Community College System) require that we control access and restrict it to faculty, staff, and students affiliated with JSRCC. This is accomplished by using a proxy server for off-campus access to these databases. To engage the proxy server, the URL that connects the user to the vendor's database must be modified to include the proxy server information. When you save (bookmark) a URL for use in a reading list or class assignment, that URL must also be modified if students are to use those links from off-campus. To engage the off-campus proxy environment, a URL must have a prefix added that will cause the proxy server to determine if the user must be authenticated or not. This prefix consists of the following text:
1. Select the article you wish to link from your Bb course. 2. When the full article appears, click on the InfoMark link from the menu near the top of the screen.
3. When the InfoMark screen appears - highlight, copy (<Ctrl>+C), and paste (<Ctrl>+V) the InfoMark URL link into your Bb course.
4. Add the URL prefix, http://ezproxy.vccs.edu:2048/login?url= in front of the InfoMark URL.
Your final URL should look like this: http://ezproxy.vccs.edu:2048/login?url=http://find.galegroup.com/itx/infomark.do?contentSet=IACDocuments&docType=IAC&type=retrieve&tabID=T002&prodId= AONE&docId=A147099910&userGroupName=viva2_jsrcc&version=1.0&searchType= SubjectGuideForm&source=gale

2. When article record appears - highlight, copy (<Ctrl>+C), and paste (<Ctrl>+V) the Persistent link into your Bb course (may need to scroll down to view the Persistent link).
3. Add the URL prefix, http://ezproxy.vccs.edu:2048/login?url= in front of the Persistent link.

1. Select the article you wish to link from your Bb course by clicking the Full Text HTML or Full Text PDF link.
2. When the full article appears - highlight, copy, and paste the URL in your browser address window into your Bb course. NOTE: If you choose the Full Text Article link - highlight, copy (<Ctrl>+C), and paste (<Ctrl>+V) the link only up to right before the question mark (?).

2. Or – from the results list, click on the article title to review the article first. From the full article screen, click on Article Information from the menu on the top of the screen.
3. When the Article Information screen appears – highlight, copy (<Ctrl>+C), and paste (<Ctrl>+V) the Stable URL into your Bb course.
4. Add the URL prefix, http://ezproxy.vccs.edu:2048/login?url= in front of the Jumpstart URL link.

NetLibrary is a database containing over 10,000 online full-text books covering a multitude of
subject areas including public domain books in literature and history. These online books can be
accessed via the VCCSLinc Library Catalog or through the Research Databases link from the
library’s web site.
To access NetLibrary from outside campus, set up your own personal NetLibrary account at
http://www.netlibrary.com from any Internet terminal on campus.
Linking to Books using the VCCSLinc Library Catalog 1. From the catalog results list, click on the Record # for the NetLibrary book you are interested in linking from your Bb course.
2. When the full record appears, scroll down and highlight (a bit difficult), copy (<Ctrl>+C), and paste (<Ctrl>+V) the URL above the Electronic Location field into your Bb course. You do not need to insert the proxy URL.
Your URL should look like this: http://www.netLibrary.com/urlapi.asp?action=summary&v=1&bookid=85682 Linking to Books using NetLibrary 1. From the NetLibrary search results screen, click on the View this eBook link for the book you are interested in linking from your Bb course.
2. When the next screen appears, click on the eContent Details tab from the menu on the left.
3. When the eContent Details information appears – highlight, copy (<Ctrl>+C), and paste (<Ctrl>+V) the Product ID number into your Bb course.
4. You will also need to use the base or prefix URL for NetLibrary persistent linking which is: http://www.netlibrary.com/summary.asp?id= Your final URL should look like this: http://www.netlibrary.com/summary.asp?id=85682
