Dates and Deadlines

The financial aid process can take up to four to six weeks. Plan ahead and complete your FAFSA as soon as possible after October 1. It is recommended that students submit the FAFSA between October and April and follow up with Reynolds Financial Aid to ensure all required documentation is provided by May.

October 1—1st day the FAFSA is open to complete (apply annually)
April 15—JSRCC FAFSA priority filing deadline
1st Fridays – FAFSA on Fridays Events Parham and Downtown campuses (starting in October)
1st Wednesdays—FAFSA on Wednesday Events on Goochland Campus


 

For priority, be sure the FAFSA is completed and submitted by:

April 15 for fall semester

September 15 for spring semester

March 15 for summer semester

You may have to pay for tuition and books from personal funds while awaiting a reply from the Office of Financial Aid regarding your eligibility for financial aid, if your application is completed after the dates listed above.


 

Recommended Date to submit the required Financial Aid documentation to ensure processing by the first payment due date: 

July 15 – fall semester

November 15 – spring semester

April 15 – summer semester’


Summer Financial Aid

For Summer aid, Reynolds uses the same FAFSA data you completed for the fall and/or spring semesters. If interested in receiving student loans for the summer term, Reynolds requires submission of a summer loan request application, which is available online, or at any campus Office of Financial Aid after March 1.

Purchasing Books Using Financial Aid 

Financial aid recipients may charge books to their aid.  The following stipulations apply to the process of book purchasing:

  • You must be enrolled in classes to charge or return books.
  • You must have financial aid funds available after tuition and fees are paid. If your only financial aid award is the Commonwealth Grant or Part-Time Assistance Program (PTAP) grant, you cannot charge books.
  • Try to make all of your purchases at one time.

***Attention Financial Aid Students*** 

If you are in a Fall 2020 class that begins on or after August 24th, or if your Fall 2020 financial aid has not disbursed yet, you may have the opportunity to charge your books in the bookstore starting August 10th through October 27th.  After October 27th, no student will be allowed to charge any purchase in the bookstore to their financial aid. There are no exceptions to this rule, therefore, you must purchase all books/supplies by no later than October 27th if you plan to use financial aid in the bookstore.

 

To see if your aid has disbursed please refer to your Student Center found in SIS on your myReynolds account.   If your aid is still in a “Pending” status your aid has not disbursed.
