HBCU/Community College Collaborative

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College is partnering with The Links, Incorporated and Virginia Union University on a national initiative sponsored by the Lumina Foundation and USA Funds. The project intends to increase collaboration between the community college and historically black colleges and universities, ultimately increasing student graduation rates and success.

Reynolds Community College, Virginia Union University, and the James River Valley Chapter of The Links, Incorporated have begun organizing a program that provides support and services to Reynolds students interested in attending Virginia Union University. Program benefits include:

Eligibility Requirements
Participation is open to any Reynolds student meeting the below criteria. Students interested in the initiative must meet either of the following criteria to be considered for participation in the program:

New Students
· 2.5 High School Grade Point Average
· Completed Application
· Enrollment in Program that will Transfer to Virginia Union University
· Satisfactory Interview
· Signed Letter of Intent
· United States Citizenship

Returning (or Currently Enrolled) Students
· 3.0 Grade Average at Reynolds
· Completed Application
· Enrollment in Program that will Transferto Virginia Union University
· Satisfactory Interview
· Signed Letter of Intent
· United States Citizenship

Selected applicants will be required to participate in an interview during the month of February. A minimum of twenty-five (25) students will be selected to participate in the program in late February.

Application Deadline
For the Spring 2014 term, applications should be completed and submitted by February 14, 2014. Applications received after this deadline will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, provided space within the program is available. Download an application
