Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a tutoring session?
You will spend about 45-50 minutes with your tutor.

How do I prepare for my appointment?
For any tutoring session, have a goal in mind -- a problem type, concept, or skill that you can make progress on in 45-50 minutes with your tutor.
Attempt the work before your appointment. This helps you understand what you need help with and allows you to make the best use of your time with the tutor.
Have all of your materials on hand before your appointment begins.
If you're meeting your tutor online, plan to join the Zoom meeting about five minutes early in case you have technical difficulties.

I'm not familiar with Navigate, Zoom, or Brainfuse. What should I do?
Tutoring Services staff are happy to talk to you about your concerns and needs. Drop by a physical location or join us in the chat. We're here to help.

Workshops

Throughout the semester, Tutoring Services and the Library offer a series of workshops to help you succeed. These include reading your syllabus and planning for the semester, reading and study strategies, note taking, testing skills, and so much more. You can see our full calendar of events and register here.

Instructors and faculty can also request workshops on various academic skills for their individual classes by filling out the form located here. We can customize a session based on your class's needs.

Brainfuse Online Tutoring

In addition to free peer tutoring services offered at Reynolds, currently enrolled students also have access to Brainfuse, an online tutoring service that covers all major subjects. Learn more about Brainfuse here .
