DENTAL ASSISTING INSTRUCTORS (PART-TIME)
Reynolds Community College is the third largest community college in Virginia and offers a variety of academic programs and services to the residents of the City of Richmond and five nearby counties. This position will be assigned to the School of Nursing and Allied Health, Downtown Campus, 700 E. Jackson Street.
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Part-time adjunct teaching faculty-ranked appointment. Salary commensurate with the education and experience of the applicant.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of current occupational experience in dental assisting using four-handed dentistry skills is required. Candidates must hold current Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential or be eligible to sit and pass the Dental Assisting National Board exam within the first semester of teaching. Licensed dental hygienists must pass CDA exam to teach assisting courses. Current state-licensed dentists are not required to obtain additional certification. Current CPR certification is required. The selected candidate must be able to successfully pass the college's pre-employment security screening.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Current CDA credential with previous experience teaching dental assisting courses and at least five (5) years of current occupational experience in dental assisting using four-handed dentistry skills is preferred. Bachelor's degree supplemented with coursework in educational theory and methodology is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office, Blackboard, PeopleSoft, and SharePoint. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work with a widely diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
