OPTICIANRY INSTRUCTORS (PART-TIME)

 

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College is the third largest community college in Virginia and offers a variety of academic programs and services to the residents of the City of Richmond and five nearby counties. Annually, our three campuses serve approximately 14,000 credit students and provide training for 6,500 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. This position will be assigned to the School of Nursing and Allied Health, Downtown Campus, 700 E. Jackson Street.

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT:  Part-time adjunct teaching faculty-ranked appointment. Salary commensurate with the education and experience of the applicant. 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  Associate's degree in opticianry or a related teaching field. Certification from the American Board of Opticianry and National Contact Lens Examiners (ABO-NCLE) may be required dependent upon content of assigned courses; and a minimum of two (2) years occupational experience is required. Distance learning candidates must provide documentation of completion of appropriate credential for teaching online, as identified by college policy. The selected candidate must be able to successfully pass the college's pre-employment security screening.   

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in a related teaching field is preferred. Classroom and online laboratory teaching experience, and demonstrated teaching and hands-on competencies are preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills; and demonstrated computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint applications are also preferred.
