Reynolds Community College is the third largest community college in Virginia and offers a variety of academic programs and services to the residents of the City of Richmond and five nearby counties. Jackson Street, Richmond, VA 23219.  


TYPE OF APPOINTMENT:  Full-time restricted twelve-month professional faculty-ranked appointment. Salary range:  $62,270 - $126,288. Approximate maximum hiring salary:  $67,000.  Salary commensurate with the education and experience of the applicant. 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of Advanced Life Support (ALS) and/or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) instruction is required.  

Considerable knowledge of the EMS field including program coordination, competency-based curricula, course development, and traditional and non-traditional teaching methods.  Knowledge of distance learning practices and principles, and use of instructional hardware and software programs, i.e. Canvas or equivalent. Demonstrated ability to coordinate an EMS program, select and order textbooks and software, coordinate lab experiences, and arrange for clinical training.  Demonstrated ability to provide individual, classroom, clinical and distance instruction.  Demonstrated ability to recruit and advise students.  Demonstrated ability to conduct periodic program review and provide annual program assessment. Ability to obtain and maintain National and State Accreditation.  Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and maintain a high level of interpersonal skills with a widely diverse faculty, staff and student population. NREMT Paramedic and Commonwealth of Virginia Paramedic Certification, Virginia ALS Coordinator and EMT-Basic Instructor. The selected candidate must be able to pass the college pre-employment security screening.


QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:  Master’s degree preferred.   Progressive management and teaching experience in EMT training in higher education is preferred. BCLS, ACLS, PHTLS/BTLS, PALS/PEPP/PPC, GEMS, AMLS Coordinator/Instructor Certifications are also preferred.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Programs Coordinator manages and coordinates all EMT courses within the program to include EMT-Basic, Enhanced, Intermediate and Paramedic.  The position will also be responsible for recruiting faculty and students, and maintaining acceptable student enrollments; coordination of all EMT courses and insuring students receive high levels of didactic, psychomotor/lab and clinical education; managing adjunct faculty both in on- and off-campus courses; coordinating clinical experiences within EMS-AAS degree program curriculum in cooperation with area and distant hospital and field preceptors; completion of college, Commonwealth of Virginia Office of EMS and CoAEMSP reports; maintaining National CoAEMSP and VA Accreditation; providing academic advising where appropriate; and monitoring and assessment of curriculum, faculty, and budget.
