INTERPRETERS FOR THE DEAF
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Part-time hourly position without state benefits. Wage employees are restricted to working approximately 29 hours per week, not to exceed 1,500 hours annually.
Hourly rates will be based upon certification level.
DUTIES: The Interpreter for the Deaf provides effective interpreting and transliterating services to deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals for classes, appointments, tutoring sessions, and campus activities and/or programs.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Considerable knowledge of deaf culture and language. Proven proficiency in American Sign Language and using English grammar. Certification from state or national screening evaluation program. High school graduate or equivalent. The selected candidate must be able to pass the college’s pre-employment security screening.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Associate's degree in a related field is preferred. Current experience working in a college environment is also preferred.
