When did you join Reynolds and what made you want to join Reynolds Community College?
I joined Reynolds in May 2018. When I moved to the region from Washington, D.C., I knew I wanted to remain in higher education. Supporting faculty and students has always been a passion of mine. While the greater Richmond area offered a variety of colleges and universities to potentially work at, Reynolds stood out to me as being deeply connected to the community, and its work felt impactful through the community college mission of providing affordable, accessible education for all students. I wanted to be a part of that and a part of making an impact.

What is your role at Reynolds and what do you do on a typical day?
I am an Instructional Designer in the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). My days are a mix of creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. I work with faculty to design and enhance online, hybrid, and HyFlex courses, making sure they are effective, accessible, and easy to navigate for our students. I also draw on my background in adult learning and technology to help faculty build learning experiences that connect genuinely with students. Most days involve working closely with faculty, whether that’s through one-on-one consultations, designing course materials, or building Canvas templates. I also get to explore multimedia design and video editing, which lets me combine both the creative and technical sides of what I love to do.

I feel lucky to work in a place that values collaboration and creativity as much as CETL does. Every day brings something new, and it’s rewarding to see the impact of our work reflected in the success of both faculty and students. Reynolds has a real sense of purpose and community that makes you want to keep learning, growing, and engaging in meaningful work.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to explore the outdoors, especially with a camera in hand. Hiking, biking, kayaking, and getting off the beaten track are where I can unwind and reset. I dabble in the world of homebrewing and sourdough bread making in my spare time and also love to play strategy board games. But above all, I cherish my role as a proud girl dad (x2!), which brings me the most joy in life.
