TYPE OF APPOINTMENT:  Full-time classified position with state benefits.


DUTIES: The Assistant Manager, Business Office manages the operations of the college business offices. This position also supervises and performs the invoicing, collections, and accounts receivable functions and associated reporting in accordance with Commonwealth of Virginia, Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and college policies and procedures. The Assistant Manager, Business Office also serves as the subject matter expert in the student financial accounts receivable business processes, table set-ups and testing; and documents applicable business processes and develops training materials. 


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Considerable working knowledge of fiscal operations, accounting principles and practices and accounts receivables; and generally accepted accounting principles and practices (GAAP). Demonstrated ability to analyze complex customer accounts, apply fiscal policies and procedures, and make timely decisions. Demonstrated ability to work with spreadsheets (Excel) and data bases, prepare routine financial reports and statements, process fiscal documents and post financial transactions in an automated financial system. Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct the work of staff in a multi-location environment.  Demonstrated ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding and inclusion. Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service to diverse customers. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree with major studies in accounting, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.


QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Recent experience in the accounts receivable/billing functions preferred. Experience in a customer service environment and/or higher education environment is also preferred.



STARTING SALARY: Maximum starting salary $64,000, based on related experience.
