Computer Science Instructor (#FO420)

Reynolds is currently seeking applicants for the position of Computer Science Instructor which will be assigned to the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, on the Downtown Campus, 700 E. Jackson Street.

Full-time nine-month teaching faculty-ranked appointment. Salary Range: $45,965 - $65,000.  Salary commensurate with the education and experience of the applicant.

  Master’s degree in Computer Science or the Master’s degree in any field with eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in Computer Science. The selected candidate must be able to pass the college's pre-employment security screening. 

Considerable working knowledge of and proficiency in programming or teaching one or more object oriented programming languages such as Java; and progressive and recent software development experience. Experience in user interface design and user experience (UI/UX Design). Experience with Java Swing/JavaFX/Rich Client Platforms (such as NetBeans, Eclipse, Flash/Flex). Experience with WebLogic and Unix; and Eclipse, Subversion (SVN), Apache Ant, Gradle, Spring, REST web services. Experience or familiarity with Oracle and Hibernate. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development for face-to-face courses and distance learning instruction; and to utilize various and multiple teaching strategies to create student-centered classrooms. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding and inclusion. Teaching experience in computer science at the community college level.

The primary responsibility is teaching. Faculty hired in this position will be required to teach courses in the transfer and non-transfer areas.  Faculty loads are normally scheduled on an average of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester.  Office hours, advising and collateral duty assignments are maintained. Teaching schedules may include day and evening classes and multiple campus and off-campus/on-line assignments. Opportunities for summer teaching will be based on student interest.
