Diesel Technology Instructor (#FO180)

Reynolds is currently seeking applicants for the position of Diesel Technology Instructor which will be assigned to the School of Automotive Technology and Skilled Trades on the Goochland Campus, 1851 Dickinson Road Goochland, VA 23063.   

 

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT:  Full-time nine-month teaching faculty-ranked appointment.  Salary commensurate with the education and experience of the applicant.  Salary range: $43,776 - $65,000.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  High school diploma or equivalent with an Associate’s degree or equivalent in Diesel Technology.  Five (5) years of current and related occupational experience.  Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or equivalent certificate in Diesel Technology. The selected candidate must be able to pass the college’s pre-employment security screening.

 

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications in Medium-Heavy Duty Truck or equivalent is preferred. Working knowledge of applied hydraulics and pneumatics; and all systems on medium and heavy duty diesel vehicles and equipment including air brakes, engines, electronic fuel controlled systems, heating, air conditioning, and power train systems. Considerable teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting is preferred. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding and inclusion.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:  The primary responsibility is teaching. Faculty loads require a minimum of fifteen (15) credit hours per semester. Office hours, advising, and collateral duty assignments are required. Teaching assignments may include face-to-face and online classes, and day and evening classes at on-and-off campus locations, to include dual enrollment courses in high school settings. Opportunities for summer teaching will be based on student interest.
