JSRCC DIVERSITY STATEMENT

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College is committed to the importance of multiculturalism and embraces diversity. This commitment encourages and promotes positive interactions that value the similarities and differences of all people in achieving our common goals.

The College seeks to provide its students, faculty and staff with an environment free of exclusion and bigotry, thus promoting respect for and an inclusion of both differences and similarities in gender, age, religion, ethnicity, class, race, culture, geographic location, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, size, and physical ability.

MULTICULTURAL ENRICHMENT COUNCIL STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College enjoys an environment and culture in which similarities and differences are highly valued, respected, and celebrated throughout the institution. The Multicultural Enrichment Council, made up of faculty, staff and students, is a council of education and advocacy that champions these values. The Council serves as a coordinating body to help the college celebrate the richness and variety in the many cultures and individuals who make up our community and the world in which we live.

MULTICULTURAL ENRICHMENT COUNCIL VISION STATEMENT
The vision of the Multicultural Enrichment Council is to:

• Help create and implement multicultural experiences for faculty, staff, students and the community.

• Identify and facilitate participation by faculty, staff and students in existing multicultural enrichment opportunities throughout our greater Richmond area.

• Educate the college community on the importance of fairness and inclusiveness —
the acceptance of differing views, beliefs, opinions, and perspectives of other people—both inside and outside of the classroom.
