Annual Essay Contest Winners Announced
 Four winners in the 2013 J. Sargeant Reynolds Annual Essay Contest were announced at a Reading Reception on Tuesday, April 23rd in the Gallery in Georgiadis Hall on the Parham Road Campus. The Annual Essay Contest was open to all currently enrolled JSR students and Dual Enrollment students in upper-level courses who attend class on campus. Available topics included What Reynolds has Meant to Me, Why I Decided to Come to Reynolds, What I Expect from My Education at Reynolds, and The Best and Worst of My Reynolds Experience. A total of 55 essays were submitted for consideration. A panel of three judges reviewed the submissions and selected the winners. >> read full story

Virginia Early Childhood Foundation Elects New Officers, Board Members
Ben Davenport, business executive from Chatham, Va., to serve as new board chair
Richmond, VA (June 12, 2013) - Ben Davenport, chairman of Davenport Energy and of First Piedmont Corporation in Chatham, Va., was elected Chair of the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation (VECF) at the organization’s annual meeting on June 12, 2013. He succeeds Tom Chewning, former CFO of Dominion Resources, who retired as Chair of the VECF board after three years in that role. Chewning, who has been a founding board member, will continue to serve as Director Emeritus.

J. Sargeant Reynolds, Jr. to deliver address at Reynolds 40th Commencement
RICHMOND, Va. (April 15, 2013) – J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College (JSRCC) will hold its 40th Commencement on Sunday, May 12, at 2 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena in the Virginia Commonwealth University Stuart C. Siegel Center, located at 1200 West Broad Street in Richmond.
J. Sargeant “Sarge” Reynolds, Jr., son of the late Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth for whom the college was named, will deliver the commencement speech on the occasion of the college’s 40th anniversary.
