“GUNS, GERMS, AND STEEL"
BOOK DISCUSSION ON WHY SOME RACES SUCCEED

RICHMOND, Va (February 13, 2006) - A free community event will be held to discuss Jared Diamond’s Pulitzer Prize winning book “Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fate of Human Societies” on Thursday, March 2. The event will start at 7 pm on J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College’s Parham Road campus in Building B Gallery-Room 101. The group discussion will cover the book’s topics which include: race, religion, technology, and contemporary societies.

Guests will enjoy book prizes and refreshments while discussing this national bestseller book and popular PBS film adaptation. Those interested in the topics, author, or the book itself are all invited to discuss Diamond’s link between geographical differences and societal advancement.

This event is a part of the “Around the World through Books” forum series sponsored by JSRCC’s Cultural Enrichment Committee for the purpose of encouraging cultural diversity throughout the Reynolds campuses and communities.
