Students may
be required
to attend an initial class orientation at one of our campuses. The class
orientation location and time will be noted in the schedule.
Some courses also
require additional on-campus meetings for special seminars,
presentations, and labs. Off-site clinicals and internships are
required for some courses/programs.

Students may be required to take JSRCC placement tests and complete
all recommendations and prerequisites.

Many classes
require students to take proctored exams at one of our Testing Centers.

Unlike
students taking traditional face-to-face class that meet weekly,
Distance Learning students are required to establish their own
study
schedules
and must
communicate with their instructors
on a regular basis.
Students must follow
the schedule for assignments and testing established by the instructor.

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College
emphasizes the importance of computer competency for all students who
are enrolled in a college program that requires a minimum of 30 credits
for graduation.
Students intending to take Distance Learning courses, (especially
online courses) should have the skills taught in the following
courses
ITE
115 or
CSC 155.
Distance Learning students also must have access to a
computer with Internet capability in order to compete any online course
