JSRCC GM ASEP Program
Responding to the need for qualified service technicians, the GM Automotive
Service Educational Program (GM ASEP) was created to allow dealerships to
participate in programs that bring students together with GM dealerships.
GM ASEP incorporates the most advanced automotive technology with a strong
academic foundation that enhances analytical and technical skills. Students
earn an Associate Degree while working and learning on the job. The result
is a solid education combined with invaluable work experience for GM Dealerships.
Benefits:
The GM ASEP program allows students to alternate between going to college and working at a GM dealership for approximately two years, leading to an Associate in Applied Science degree (AAS). All participating GM ASEP colleges and universities are certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (ASE/NATEF), ensuring that training meets or exceeds industry standards.
Students will:
• Learn exclusively on current GM vehicles giving them a competitive
edge when applying for a job
• Students while training at the dealership earn an hourly wage
• GM trained college instructors, knowledgeable in the latest technological
trends, teach students
• Students receive individual attention in small classes
• Students, using the knowledge learned in class, analyze problems and apply
solutions
• Students learn, both in the college classroom and the GM workplace, what
the dealerships want in their customer focused, highly trained employees
• Students benefit by the colleges and dealerships working together to retain
students, to advise them, and help them complete the program
• Students and dealers receive credit for a majority of the GM STC courses
upon completion of the program
• Students will find this an exciting high tech program that will lead to
a rewarding career in a rapidly expanding field
