APPROVED LABORATORY SCIENCE: For the Science Degree, a minimum of 16 credits of Laboratory Science is required. An additional 8 to 10 credits of 200 level Laboratory For the Computer Science Specialization and the Mathematics Specialization, a minimum of 8 credits of Laboratory Science is required. Approved Laboratory Sciences for the Science Degree, the Computer Science Specialization and the Mathematics Specialization include BIO 101, 102, 107, 205, 231, 232, 285 CHM 111, 112, 241/245, 242/246 GOL 105, 106 PHY 241, 242 CHM 255, PHY 201 & 202 are approved
For the Science Degree and the Mathematics Specialization, a minimum of 3 credits of Computer Science (CSC prefix) are required. CSC 201, 202, 205, 210 or any 200 level CSC course CSC 155 is approved for the science degree as an accepted computer science elective but not for the mathematics or computer science specialization.

HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION: For the Science Degree, the Computer Science Specialization and the Mathematics Specialization, HLT 100, 105, 106, 110, 116, 121,143, PED Any course NOTE: RPK Prefix courses may be used for Health/Physical Education Requirement SOCIAL SCIENCE ELECTIVES: For the Science Degree, the Computer Science Specialization and the Mathematics Specialization, a minimum of 3 credits of Social Science In general, all 200 level courses in Economics, Geography, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology will meet this requirement. Approved Social Science Electives for the Science Degree, the Computer Science and Mathematics Specialization include the following: ECO 201, 202 EDU 200 GEO 210, 220 HIS 101, 102, 111, 112, 121, 122, 141, 142, 269, 276 or any HIS 100 or HIS 200 level course PLS 211, 212 PSY 201, 202, 205, 215, 230, 231, 235 SOC 200, 207, 210, 215, 268 HUMANITIES ELECTIVES: For the Science Degree, the Computer Science Specialization and the Mathematics Specialization, a minimum of 6 hours are required. Approved Humanities Electives for the Science Degree, the Computer Science Specialization and the Mathematics Specialization include ART 101,102, 106, or any 3 credit ART course ENG 210, 215, 216, 217, 218, 241, 242, 243, 244, 251, 252, 253, 254, 273, 274, or any 200 level ENG course MUS 111, 112, 121, 122 or any 3 credit MUS course PHI 101, 102, 111, 112, 220 PHT 101, 102 or any 3 credit PHT course REL 231, 232 SPD 100, 105, 110 ARA 101, 102, 201, 202 ASL 101, 102, 201, 202 FRE 101, 102, 201, 202 GER 101, 102, 201, 202 SPA 101, 102, 201, 202 Or any other foreign language of the same level as above. (VCU no longer requires a Foreign APPROVED ELECTIVES: Classes with course numbers of 195 or 295 may be accepted as approved electives after consideration by the program head or Dean. For the Science Degree, a minimum of 6 hours are required. Most any of the above courses will meet this requirement. For the Computer Science Specialization, a minimum of 3 hours are required. Most any of the above courses will meet this requirement in addition to any 200 level CSC course. For the Mathematics Specialization, a minimum of 3 hours are required. Students are strongly recommended to take either CSC 202 or CSC 205 or any 200 level CSC course. These elective courses are recommended for completing an Associate Degree program at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. The transferability of classes may vary significantly between colleges and even within the same college for different majors. Each student should consider the elective requirements of their preferred transfer college for the correct electives that fit into a Bachelor of Science, Computer Science or Mathematics Degree either by consulting the Transfer Guide available through the Academic Support Center or by contacting the senior institution.
