Phi Beta Lambda
Phi Beta Lambda is the nationally recognized business organization. This club fosters the professional development of students who are interested in a career in business.

Sustainable Agriculture Club
The Sustainable Agriculture Club is primarily an online discussion group for current students or JSRCC graduates who are enrolled in or have completed at least one 3-credit Sustainable Agriculture course.

Horticulture Club
The Horticulture Club provides opportunities for professional development, social interaction, and community service to students with vocational interests in the field of horticulture.

Anime Club
The Anime Club introduces Japanese animation to members, other students, and staff. Club members lead online discussions about plot, character, dynamics, etc.

Performing Arts Club
The Performing Arts Club provides opportunities for members to develop their acting skills through basic practice and “improve” skits. The club also encourages students to join with an interest in stage production, set design, and script writing.

Early Childhood Education Club
The Early Childhood Education Club provides opportunities for professional development and community service to students who are interested in early childhood development.

Culinary Arts Club
The Culinary Arts Club provides culinary arts students with an environment to professionally develop.

Student Virginia Education Association
The Student Virginia Education Association provides informational activities about the teaching profession to students who are interested in a career in teaching.

Student Council Association
The Student Council Association has a three-prong mission: to plan general programs for the student body with an emphasis on community service; to serve as an advocacy group for the student body through participation on college-wide committees; and to develop leadership skills and life-long values in its members.

American Sign Language Club
The American Sign Language Club enhances sign language skills of students who have taken an introductory class to American Sign Language.

P.A.V.E. Club
The P.A.V.E. Club (Program for Adults in Vocational Education) develops leadership and social skills for students who are enrolled in the P.A.V.E. program.

Human Services Club
The Human Services Club provides opportunities for professional development and community service to students who are interested in human services (i.e. childcare, mental health, hospitals, etc.).

Oasis Bible Study
The Oasis Bible Study provides an opportunity each week for students to gather and share their Christian faith through reading Scripture, leading discussions, and playing spiritual music.

All JSRCC student clubs must follow Student Life policies and procedures.
Failure to follow any of the policies and procedures may result in the refusal of funding or even the removal of official club status within the Office of Student Life.
Emir Omerovic, President, Student Council Association
Doug Ford, Vice President of Western Campus, Student Council Association & Student Ambassador
Doug Ford, 21, graduated from J.R. Tucker High School in 2006 and is a graduate of the Richmond Area Ford Training (RAFT) program at JSRCC and has an associate’s degree in Applied Science. He is currently studying Mechanical Engineering and plans to transfer to Virginia Commonwealth University to complete a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He aspires to apply his skills to designing and testing new cars and parts. In addition to working on cars, Doug enjoys volleyball and spending time with friends. He is a JSRCC Student Ambassador, the Student Council Association Vice President of the College’s Western Campus, a member of JSR LEAD, the College’s leadership group, and has been named to the Dean’s List every semester he has attended Reynolds. Doug also serves on a STIR committee (Sustainable Transportation Initiative of Richmond), an initiative formed to lead the effort and successful integration of green, alternative, environmentally- friendly vehicles and transportation systems into the City of Richmond.
Abbey Brown, Vice President of Parham Road Campus, Student Council Association
Abbey Brown, 19, graduated from Lee-Davis High School in 2008 and is now working on an associate’s degree in Social Sciences, with a specialization in Teacher Preparation. She plans to transfer to a four-year college or university and, eventually, pursue a master’s degree. Abbey hopes to become an elementary school teacher. In addition to serving as a SCA officer, Abbey is a member of the Oasis Bible Study and Phi Theta Kappa honor society. She spends her summers serving as a counselor at a Bible camp in Pennsylvania.
Rapheal Parker, Vice President of Downtown Campus, Student Council Association
Rapheal Parker, 21, is a 2006 graduate of Highland Springs High School and is currently studying Business Administration at JSRCC. Rapheal plans to transfer to a Virginia four-year college or university. He says if he cannot make it to the NBA, he would like to be a successful businessman. He is a JSRCC Student Council Association officer, on the Dean’s List and a member of the College’s Multicultural Enrichment Council. He enjoys basketball, drawing and spending time with his family and special friends.
Alison Carlin, Secretary, Student Council Association & Student Ambassador
Alison Carlin, 19, graduated from Deep Run High School in 2008 and is currently enrolled in the College’s Pre-Nursing and Allied Health program. Alison is a JSRCC Student Council Association officer and serves as a Student Ambassador. She plans on becoming a registered nurse and, later, transferring to Virginia Commonwealth University to pursue a master's degree in Social Work. She is interested in professions that will allow her to give back and make a difference in the community. Alison is also a member of JSRCC’s Phi Theta Kappa honor society and was named to the Dean’s List in 2008. She volunteers, manages long term recovery through a 12-step fellowship, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Chase Painter, Student Ambassador
Chase Painter, 19, graduated in 2008 from Lloyd C. Bird High School. In addition to his science studies at JSRCC, he serves as a Student Ambassador, participated in the College’s student leadership program, LEAD, and is the president of the JSRCC Phi Theta Kappa honor society Alpha Gamma Omicron chapter for the Downtown Campus. Chase plans to transfer to either Virginia Commonwealth University or University of Virginia to study Biological Science and
Pre-med. He plans on becoming a family physician. He is currently on the Dean’s List as well as the President’s Honor roll.
Dario Huynh, Student Ambassador

Dario Huynh, 20, is a 2007 graduate of Meadowbrook High School. He currently lives in Chesterfield County, but is originally from Vietnam. Dario is enrolled in the Engineering program at JSRCC. In addition to serving as a Student Ambassador, he also participates in JSRCC’s leadership program, LEAD. After completing his associate’s degree at Reynolds, Dario is considering joining the U.S. Air Force to study in the HVAC Apprenticeship; however, he is also pursuing the guaranteed admissions agreement with Virginia Tech. He has a love of cars and is in the process of restoring a 1977 Datsun 280Z.
Nicole Abato, Student Ambassador

Nicole Abato, 32, graduated from Hermitage High School in 1995 and is currently enrolled in the Administration of Justice program at JSRCC. Upon graduation, Nicole plans to transfer to Virginia Commonwealth University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. She aspires to be a victim's rights advocate for humans and animals. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys cross stitch, music, reading, painting and volunteering with the Seva Foundation and GREAT, the Golden Retriever Rescue Society. In addition to serving as a JSRCC Student Ambassador, Nicole was also named to the Dean's List for fall 2008 and spring 2009.
Justin Neagle, Student Ambassador
Justin Neagle, 19, is a 2008 graduate of Lee Davis High. He is studying Business Administration at JSRCC and plans to transfer to either Virginia Commonwealth University or University of Virginia after completing his associate’s degree. His career goals include work in pharmaceutical sales, marketing or advertising. Justin played volleyball throughout high school and still continues to play. He is an assistant coach for the Lee-Davis High School volleyball team and holds two part-time jobs – one of which is as a pharmacy technician at a Mechanicsville drug store. Justin is also a member of the College’s Phi Beta Lambda club for future business leaders.

Tara Foster, Student Ambassador
Tara Foster, 26, graduated from the Governor’s School for Government and International Studies in 2001. She is currently studying Business Administration at JSRCC. Tara is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Phi Beta Lambda. She also serves the College as a Student Ambassador and a student tutor. Upon graduation, Tara plans to transfer to a four-year college or university to study Marketing and Public Relations and, later, pursue a law degree. Tara says she chose to attend Reynolds because she knew it was a great opportunity to get an excellent education at a price she could afford. She became a Student Ambassador in the spring of 2008 after seeing what an amazing impact the program had on her Reynolds experience. Tara is also the lead singer in a band and recording a CD set for release this fall.

The Office of Student Life is excited to offer the Co-Curricular Grant Program, Want to bring in a guest speaker to your class? Want to take your class on a local which enables teaching faculty to request funds through Student Life to tie out-of-classroom programming with course learning outcomes.
