This is a broad field for IT professionals. The Computer Programmer specialization prepares you for occupations like computer programmer, applications programmer, programmer/analyst, internet programmer, and related computer programming occupations. The Microcomputer Technical Support (Networking) specialization prepares you for a career as a hardware and software support technician, network specialist, help desk specialist, and related networking occupations. The Internet Applications Development (Web Design) specialization prepares you for a career as a web page designer, webmaster, and related web-design occupations. The Microcomputer Applications (Administrative/Office Applications) specialization prepares you for jobs as an administrative and office support specialist, information center specialist, and related office applications occupations.  The Cyber Security specialization prepares you to recognize and prevent threats to information and information systems and to sit for the CompTIA Security+ certification exam.

Industry certifications and/or a bachelor’s or master’s degree are generally required for advancement in the information technology field. The purpose of the Information Systems Technology AAS degree is for students who seek employment in business information systems, who desire to update their information technology skills for their current job, and who desire to improve their technology skills in order to enhance their non-information technology major.
