Your conclusion paragraph should be at least 3 sentences (for a shorter paper), but it can be much longer, depending on what kind of conclusion you're making. A strong conclusion paragraph will usually contain all of the following elements!
- First sentence that summarizes any big result/conclusion of the paper
- Restatement of your thesis statement
- 2-3 sentences summarizing the supporting points / body paragraphs (usually you'll write one sentence per supporting point)
- A “bigger picture” sentence to transition into the last part (this is where you'll zoom out to talk about larger implications)
- One last mic-drop sentence that clinches the entire paper!
Note: no new information should be presented in the concluding paragraph.
