Step 4: Commencement Ceremony

What is Commencement?
Commencement is a ceremony that celebrates students who have recently graduated or are about to graduate. It's your chance to walk across the stage in your cap and gown in recognition of your hard work.

For ceremony details, dates, and how to participate, visit our Commencement page.

Graduation Honors
Students who complete A.A., A.S., A.A.S. degrees or certificates are eligible for honors and will be recognized with a gold tassel. Career studies certificates are not eligible.

Graduating G.P.A. cumulative:

  • 3.2 = Cum laude (with honor)
  • 3.5 = Magna cum laude (with high honor)
  • 3.8 = Summa cum laude (with highest honor)

Participating in Commencement does not automatically mean that a student has graduated. In order to graduate, a student must complete all requirements of their degree program and fill out an official online graduation application.

The college reserves the right to graduate students who complete requirements, even without an application.
